Another season has come to an end and the Aimia Hotel will close on Sunday 6th November. It has been a very positive season, marked by the reunion with many familiar faces and new ones, but always with great enthusiasm after all the uncertainty we have lived through during the times of the pandemic.

Almost all of the destinations to which you can travel have festivities that are well known by all visitors, including the Valley of Sóller with its famous Fiestas de Sa Fira i Es Firó, the Fiestas de Sant Bartomeu or Easter. However, in most places there are also other less famous festivities that are less well known by visitors. Festivities which, in the case of Mallorca, are many. These celebrations are held in most of the island's municipalities and have a long historical tradition. A tradition that defines and reflects the local culture of the Balearic Islands and the Mediterranean at all levels. So today we bring you two of these festivities that are so special and characteristic of the Mallorcan people, including the inhabitants of the Sóller Valley: the Dia de les Verges and the Dia de Tots Sants, what we could call the Mallorcan "Halloween". A festivity that in our municipality is celebrated in a totally different way to the Halloween we all know.

The Valley of Sóller is known for the Fiestas de Sa Fira and Es Firó, some of the most emblematic festivals in Mallorca in which the victory of the inhabitants of Sóller over the invasion of the Turkish corsairs in 1561 is commemorated. However, if we are talking about fiestas, there are other fiestas in the Sóller Valley that are less well known than the Firó but just as special for the inhabitants of Sóller. We are talking about the patron saint fiestas of Sant Bartomeu. These celebrations are held at the end of August to commemorate the patron saint of the Sóller Valley: Saint Bartholomew. A patron saint who gives his name to the town's iconic central church: La Parròquia de Sant Bartomeu. For all these reasons, today we are going to talk about the patron saint festivities of the Sóller Valley, how to experience them and how to be part of the festivities and tradition to the fullest.
