Cycling in the Tramuntana mountain range.

A paradise for lovers of the sport.

If you are passionate about cycling, cycling in the Serra de Tramuntana is, without a doubt, a fantastic option, as it offers incredible places and spectacular landscapes in front of the sea to enjoy this sport in a magical place. Especially in these spring months, when the temperature is very pleasant and the days are much sunnier and clearer. So today we bring you two perfect road cycling routes to discover the Tramuntana mountain range, the north coast of Mallorca and some of the most spectacular towns that make it up. A perfect plan to do sport while discovering some of the most magical places in the Mediterranean.

ROUTE 1.
AIMIA HOTEL - PUIG MAJOR - LLUCH - FORNALUTX - SÓLLER

We will leave the Aimia Hotel in the direction of Sóller until we reach a roundabout where we can turn left to go in the direction of Lluc or continue straight on in the direction of Palma. We will turn left towards Lluc. At this point we will take the main road of our route. We will ascend the Puig Major road for approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes until we reach the entrance to the tunnel on the road itself, a spectacular place where we will take a break to catch our breath and enjoy, from the viewpoint on the right, a fantastic panoramic view of the Valley of Sóller and magnificent views of Puig Major, the highest mountain in Mallorca. After a brief pause, we will continue our route crossing the tunnel until we reach the next viewpoint, located right next to the Military Base. A viewpoint from where you can enjoy the fresh air and the wonderful views of the Embassament de Cúber, one of the most important natural water reserves in the Tramuntana mountain range. After catching our breath and taking some souvenir photographs, we will continue our route in the direction of Lluc, a journey of approximately 50 minutes. Along the way we can enjoy other fantastic places such as the Gorg Blau reservoir and the Almallutx sanctuary (an archaeological site) before reaching the turn-off marked by an old aqueduct next to a picturesque bar. Here, we can choose between turning left and visiting Sa Calobra and Es Torrent de Pareis, or turning right, crossing the aqueduct, in the direction of Lluc. So on this route we will head to the right, passing by the Mirador de s'Entreforc viewpoint, until we reach Lluc. Once there we can visit the Monastery or Sanctuary of Lluc and take a break for lunch. After lunch and a visit to this fantastic place in Escorca, we will continue our route back towards the Valley of Sóller, and although this is not a circular route, we will change some details of our return route before arriving at the hotel.

We will leave Lluc in the direction of Sóller along the Puig Major road, passing again by the different reservoirs and viewpoints that we have visited during the morning until we arrive, after approximately 2 hours, at the Ses Barques viewpoint. A magical place to discover incredible views of the bay of Puerto de Sóller and the Sóller Valley. A place that is definitely worth a visit. Moreover, the Mirador de Ses Barques is located about 30 minutes by bike from the Aimia Hotel, so we can enjoy this wonderful place knowing that we are practically at the end of our route.

We then continue descending in the direction of Sóller until we find the turn-off to Fornalutx on our left. We will take this detour, changing our route back to Puerto de Sóller and taking advantage of the opportunity to visit this fantastic village in the Tramuntana, which has been awarded on several occasions as one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. If you do not wish to take this tour, you can continue along the Puig Major road until you reach the roundabout that will take you back to Puerto de Sóller. However, the picturesque centre of Fornalutx is well worth a visit.

After a short break there, we continue descending in the direction of Puerto de Sóller until we reach the Aimia Hotel. This is where our route ends and where we suggest you relax in our SPA and enjoy a magnificent Mediterranean dinner in the Airecel Restaurant. A perfect place to end the day.

ROUTE 2.
AIMIA HOTEL - ESPORLES - VALLDEMOSSA - DEIÀ - SÓLLER

Another route that we propose for you to enjoy cycling in the Tramuntana mountain range is a more "urban" route, as it crosses some of the most picturesque towns on the north coast of Mallorca, such as Deià, Valldemossa and Esporles. After about 45 minutes you will reach this municipality in the Tramuntana. Here we recommend you take a break in the centre of the village and enjoy breakfast before continuing our route. We will then continue our route in the direction of Valldemossa along a picturesque road that links both municipalities (Ma-10) and, after approximately 1 hour's drive, we will arrive at the marvellous municipality of Valldemossa. A perfect place to get to know and enjoy the traditional gastronomy with the typical "Coca de patata" and to discover historical places such as the Royal Carthusian Monastery of Valldemossa. After visiting Valldemossa, we will continue our cycling route in the direction of Deià along the road that joins both municipalities until we reach the Sa Foradada viewpoint. We recommend that you take some photographs at this spot. Finally, after about 50 minutes of cycling, stop included, we will arrive at the picturesque, bohemian and artistic village of Deià. A very special place to get to know the Mediterranean spirit of the north coast.

Afterwards, we will continue our route back to the Aimia Hotel. So we head in the direction of Sóller along the Deià road (Ma-10) on a pleasant return to the Sóller Valley with the Mediterranean Sea on the left and the Tramuntana mountain range on the right. Finally, after about 55 minutes we will be back at the Aimia Hotel. Here you can relax after a wonderful day of cycling in the Tramuntana and enjoy a fantastic dinner in our Airecel Restaurant

Spring is a very special season to enjoy cycling in the Tramuntana, especially in the months of April and May, as these are the months that mark the beginning of the good weather, with more pleasant temperatures and sunny days, perfect to practice this sport in a dream place with countless routes surrounded by nature, which allows us to enjoy even more this season of the year, the flowering and how the towns of the Tramuntana are filled with colours and life. Undoubtedly, a great place to enjoy sport in a fresh and natural place while discovering the authentic Mediterranean, its culture, its tradition, its people and its gastronomy.
