Discover one of the most spectacular hikes along Mallorca's northern coast, starting directly from Hotel Aimia. This circular route to Puig de Balitx and the Cova del Migdia via Pas de s’Heura and Pas d’en Barona is perfect for nature lovers, offering breathtaking views and an outdoor adventure in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Serra de Tramuntana.

Hiking in Port de Sóller: Nature, History, and Sea Views
Port de Sóller is the ideal starting point for hikers eager to explore the Serra de Tramuntana, one of Mallorca's natural treasures. This route combines mountain landscapes, cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean, and historical sites like the Cova del Migdia, creating an unforgettable experience for intermediate-level hikers.

Stage 1: From Hotel Aimia to Coll de Cala Ferrera
We begin our walk from Hotel Aimia towards Carrer Bélgica. At the first curve, we turn right onto Camí de s’Illeta, ascending the same path that leads to Sa Torre Picada. (Interested in this route? Discover it in our article: Hike to Sa Torre Picada and Camí de s’Illeta).
After 15–20 minutes of ascent, we observe the distinctive rock formation Penyal Bernat. Continuing uphill, we leave the asphalt behind until reaching a metal gate with columns indicating "Ca’n Bardi." From here, we can already appreciate the dizzying cliffs of Puig de Balitx, which we will traverse on our return.
We proceed to a junction where we take the left path, following a red arrow painted on a rock. Shortly after, we take a right turn onto Camí del Joncar and Pas de Na Cordellina, an old mule track hanging on the hillside with spectacular views of s’Illeta de Can Gordo and the cliffs of Mallorca's northern coast.

Stage 2: From Coll de Cala Ferrera to Puig de Balitx
We pass by a cave visible from the path (safe to visit) before reaching Coll de Cala Ferrera (210 m) or Coll de Na Cordellina, at the foot of Penyal Bernat des Joncar. From here, the views of Torrent de Na Mora and Puig Major are impressive.
We cross a dry stone wall and follow the cairns to the right towards Pas de s’Heura, a spectacular rocky ledge with a continuous ascent, well-marked with cairns and red arrows.
In this section, the trail leads to a flat area from where we can see Puig de sa Bassa (Comuna de Fornalutx). Gradually, the path descends towards Balitx until reaching Tanca dels Bous, and further ahead, a gate connecting to a cart path. To the left, it descends to the port, but we continue to the right towards the Cova del Migdia and Puig de Balitx.

Stage 3: Cova del Migdia and Ascent to Puig de Balitx
We ascend a stepped path to the Cova del Migdia, also known as Cova des Coloms, a site of great archaeological interest. From here, we continue the ascent to Puig de Balitx, a steep 15-minute climb offering spectacular views from the summit.
After enjoying the panorama, we descend back to the cave and take the path to the right towards Pas d’en Barona, descending until connecting with the cemented path of Ca’n Bardi.

Stage 4: Return to Hotel Aimia
We turn left onto Camí de s’Illeta and complete the circular route, returning to Hotel Aimia. An incredible hike that combines history, nature, and adventure, starting and ending at our very own accommodation.
