Discover the best hiking in Sóller

The best hiking routes in Mallorca around Sóller.

The valley of Sóller is located in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2011. From Hotel Aimia we would like to invite you to discover this natural treasure through various hiking routes, with options for all ages and levels. There are many possibilities, from excursions starting from Sóller to others that cross the heart of the Serra, but we are sure that none of them will leave you indifferent:

EXCURSION BINIARIAX - ES BARRANC DE BINIARAIX or FORNALUTX

Duration: half a day visiting Biniaraix and Fornalutx (2 hours of walking in total), with the option of a longer excursion from Es Barranc de Biniaraix to the Cúber reservoir (8 hours in total).

The village of Biniaraix is about 30 minutes' walk from Sóller. Located in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana, in the village of Biniaraix you will enjoy spectacular mountain views. You can stroll through its cobbled streets on a journey back in time to the purest and most authentic Mallorca of another era, when time flowed at a different pace. Once there, you cannot miss the stone washhouse, the nerve centre and meeting place for women to wash clothes and exchange gossip about everything that was going on in the village. From the Biniaraix washhouse itself, two very popular excursions begin: Es Barranc de Biniaraix (a 4-hour excursion that ends at the Cúber reservoir) and the Ca's Patró Lau path, which will take you to the village of Fornalutx in a walk of approximately 25 minutes.

EXCURSION FROM SES BARQUES VIEWPOINT TO BÀLITX

Duration: 3 hours approximately. This is one of the most beautiful mountain excursions in Mallorca and begins at the Ses Barques viewpoint, very close to the village of Fornalutx.

The Mirador de ses Barques is a 15-minute drive from the centre of Sóller. Once there, you can park your car and enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the Port de Sóller, with the Mediterranean bathing the horizon. At the same viewpoint, you will see the signpost marking the way to Bàlitx, which marks the start of the excursion along a dirt track that will plunge you into a landscape of stone, water and marvellous centenary olive trees, crossing three old estates, typical of rural Mallorca: Bàlitx d'Amunt, Bàlitx d'Enmig and Bàlitx d'Avall. After about an hour and a half's walk and after having visited the first two estates, we finally arrive at Bàlitx d'Avall, the last of these beautiful estates, where you can also visit an ancient watchtower that is open to the public. This excursion has a medium level of difficulty and lasts approximately three hours (round trip).

CIRCULAR EXCURSION TO THE TOSSALS VERDS HUT

Duration: 4 hours approximately. Circular excursion where you can contemplate the Cúber reservoir and enjoy the views of the Tossals Verds refuge.

This circular excursion starts at the Font des Noguer, located half an hour's drive from the centre of Sóller. The road to the Font des Noguer is a winding route through the heart of the Serra de Sóller, bordering the Cúber reservoir (one of the two reservoirs in Mallorca) until you reach the Font des Noguer, where there is a small car park where you can leave your car.

From the Font des Noguer, follow the GR 221 Pas de Llis, Refugi des Tossals Verds signposted path on the right. To do this, pass a small wooden staircase and continue a few metres, after which you will see the aforementioned signpost, which indicates the uphill path that will take you up to 911m above sea level.

The path leads us to a dry stone wall that we will have to cross through the gate, after which begins the path of ascents and descents that will lead us directly to the Tossals Verds Hut. Here we can refresh ourselves with water, soft drinks and food while enjoying the unbeatable views.

As this is a circular excursion, the return route follows the signs to "Ses Cases Velles" and then to the "Font des Noguer". The signpost is located to the left of the refuge. It is important to remember that we are not going back the same way we came. The path will take you uphill until you reach the channel that carries water from the Gorg Blau reservoir (the second reservoir we have in Mallorca, in addition to the one in Cúber). Once here, continue along the path parallel to the watercourse until you reach the car park where the excursion begins. In total, completing the route will have taken you between 4 and 5 hours, depending on your pace.
